             abstract = "The TerraClass project has been mapping land use land cover 
                         changes in the Brazilian Amazon since 2008. This paper aims to 
                         present the main transitions of land use land cover changes in the 
                         State of Par{\'a}. The classes with higher frequency of 
                         occurrence in 2012 were: pasture and secondary vegetation that 
                         occupy 54% and 25% of the area respectively. Regarding 
                         deforestation posterior to 2008, 55% became pasture (9,021 km2), 
                         29% secondary vegetation (4,682 km2) and 0.4%, agriculture (69 
                         km2). The expansion of agricultural area and secondary vegetation 
                         occurred primarily on pasture areas. Thus, this work supports the 
                         conclusion that on state of Para, pasture areas are advancing on 
                         over recent deforestation, while pasture itself is giving areas 
                         for agriculture and secondary vegetation.",
